Had a weird experience the other day. On the way home from work, decided to stop by Eaton's Centre. So I am sitting there on the bench, and a homeless man comes up to me. He asks if I have any change, I respond that I would buy him something to eat. His name is Matthew.
So we're talking; waiting for the elevator... when this lady comes up to him offering a quarter. The exchange is as follows.
Matthew: I don't want your nickel.
Lady: You're homeless. Take the money....and it's a quarter!
Matthew: I don't care; I don't need it.
Lady: You should be grateful! *swears*
Matthew: Have you ever been to a homeless shelter?
Lady: Yes.
Matthew: BS.
Lady: You're just a fraud!
Meanwhile, I'm standing there...looking confused and feeling awkward. He explained later that the woman wouldn't give before, and she was making rude comments earlier. So, I purchased the food for him and we parted ways. Sadly, we did not really get to chat more.
I was pretty puzzled... still waiting for more understanding from God. I was wondering if I appeared like that lady...wanting to soothe my prickly conscious. I haven't evangelized for a while, so maybe it was that. I don't know...more Jesus required!
I have been praying for him. There seems to be a lot of pent up anger in him. Hoping that He meets Jesus one day. :)
